6 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage: New Year's Smash

1. The Babyfaces Prevail

There's something to be said for wrestling feuds that end with babyface dominance. Yes, episodic television is all about pulling the rug out from underneath them occasionally so things keep ticking, but there was no room for that on Rampage after months of back and forth between these rivals.

Anna Jay and Tay Conti had to win, and they did.

Now, the key for AEW will be following up on this strong display with proper pushes for both women. Both. Tony Khan doesn't have any excuses there - there's room in the division for Jay and Conti to shine due to the TBS Title and the first champ being crowned on Wednesday's Dynamite.

This tag-team 'Street Fight' could've headlined Friday's card no bother. That shows how far women like The Bunny, Penelope Ford, Anna and Tay have come in 2021. Here's to an even better 2022. Could AEW's female landscape be about to blow up and dominate Rampage? Fingers crossed for that.
