6 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Oct 30)
2. A Tortured Jey Uso
Roman Reigns deserved an Academy Award for his acting chops at Hell In A Cell. He cut an emotional wreck before locking a choke hold on Jimmy Uso that forced Jey to quit, and it was awesome. This week, it was Jey's turn to vie for those Oscars.
He was a trembling mess during SmackDown's open.
This worked because it was believable that Uso would be distraught. He lost a golden chance to shut Reigns up, and he only bellowed "I Quit" because his brother was in danger. When Jey roared, "I hate you" over and over at Roman on SmackDown, it was powerful as hell. Reigns' replying, "I love you" was even better.
The weight of an entire family seemed to be on Jey's shoulders as Roman calmly reminded him that the elders have his back as "head of the table". This is how you open a pro wrestling TV show. It had drama, emotion and the promise of something more by the end of the night.
