6 Ups & 3 Downs From NXT Great American Bash 2023

Finally!

Gallus’ near-six-month reign of terror as NXT Tag Team Champions finally came to a close Sunday night when The Family toppled them to open the Great American Bash.

Since February, Gallus has inexplicably ruled the tag division, proving to be the cure for insomnia. It’s not that they’re bad in the ring – it’s just that they’re boring. You can hear it – or more accurately, not hear it – during their matches. Sunday’s tag title match provided more of that, as the fired-up fans went silent during periods when Gallus were in control, then ramped up when Tony D’Angelo and Stacks took over.

You could argue that Gallus did their job as heel champions, but it was more of a relief to see their title reign end than anything else. At least D’Angelo and Stacks will be far more entertaining as tag champs and hopefully will breathe some life into the titles and the division.
