6 Ups & 3 Downs From NXT Great American Bash 2023

5. Just A Good, Fun Mess

Meta Four
WWE

Mixed tag matches can be a mixed bag: they can be entertaining, or they could feel like a disjointed disaster.

Thankfully, the eight-person mixed tag pitting Meta-Four against Nathan Frazer, Dragon Lee, Yulisa Leon and Valentina Feroz was the former: a quick-paced blitz of nonstop action from the opening bell. All eight superstars flew around the ring, getting a chance to shine. Leon and Feroz in particular looked good in their first Premium Live Event, hitting a few nice top-rope moves and showing some fire.

The strategy behind the match couldn’t have been by accident: By keeping their collective foot on the pedal, it masked various mistakes. Jakara Jackson looked out of place, but there never was enough time for those botches to sink in because they were off to the next flurry of moves.

This match won’t win any awards, nor was it something you’ll go and rewatch a bunch, but it was fun and fired up the crowd, which is what you need for a kickoff match.
