6 Ups & 3 Downs From This Week's NWA Powerrr (Nov 5)

3. Aron Stevens Just Isn't Clicking

The whole arrogant Hollywood star character is one that has worked throughout the history of the wrestling business, yet Aron Stevens seems to be struggling a little in the NWA right now.

From what fans have seen from an in-ring standpoint, Stevens has been fine in what he’s needed to do. The problem with him right now, though, is that his promo work just doesn’t seem to be clicking. Considering that Stevens was renowned for his talking ability during his Damien Sandow years in WWE, it’s a little strange to see that his mic work is the weakest part of his game at the moment. Rather than coming off as a detested asshat of a heel whose sh*t doesn’t stink, Stevens’ promos have come off as boring, rambling, and dull.

Maybe it’s because the promo work of others – such as Nick Aldis, James Storm, and Eli Drake – has been so fantastic on NWA Powerrr that the so-so promos of Aron Stevens stand out. Either way, it’s noticeable that he’s not quite hitting his stride just yet.

Given that Stevens had been out of the wrestling game for two years before signing with the National Wrestling Alliance, here’s hoping that this is simply a case of him being a little rusty as he looks to find his feet.
