6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (13 Feb - Results & Review)

1. Main Event Keeps Everyone Guessing

Cody Rhodes won Friday's headliner to qualify for the Chamber, but either Jacob Fatu or Sami Zayn could’ve nabbed that spot themselves. The sub-story of Drew McIntyre potentially helping Sami win because he views Zayn as a soft target was logical, and the action was simply marvellous once they got going and worked through the early feeling out process. Credit to Wade Barrett for putting across the urgency of winning matches the closer we get to WrestleMania 42 too.

Nobody wants to risk missing out on the big weekend, after all.

Overall, this proved to be way less predictable than last week’s Triple Threat main event pitting Randy Orton vs. Aleister Black vs. Solo Sikoa. Orton was the stand out headliner from that pack, so he was always going to win. This week, all 3 guys could stake a claim to going after the WWE Title at 'Mania, and that desperation their characters have for gunning down Drew came bursting through the screen.

It was a little odd (at first) to see Zayn clock Drew with a Helluva Kick when the Scot had effectively tried to help Sami win, but then...Zayn didn't really see any of that. He was knocked out cold when McIntyre draped him over Cody, so he might've thought the WWE Champ was there to scupper his title aspirations all over again.

WWE put on a show with this main event. Each man involved had a realistic chance of emerging victorious, and Drew's run in didn't take away from the bout's flow at all.
