6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (July 2)

2. Keeping It On The Back Burner

Last week, yours truly had a bit of a whinge about Jimmy Uso's current direction. In short, it doesn't make sense that Jim has gone from rebelling against Roman's leadership to sucking up any chance he gets. Even so, WWE were always going to have a few weeks to put things right.

They did that on Friday.

Uso walked out believing that Reigns was waiting to ambush Edge with him, but that wasn't the case. Roman was never going to help out, and Paul Heyman knew it. Nobody told Jimmy, meaning he took a kicking from Edge and ended up mimicking his cousin's horrified WrestleMania 37 facial expressions.

This is something the company can come back to if they need another stopgap challenger before or after SummerSlam. Jimmy must question why Roman and Paul E hung him out to dry when they claim to be "all about family". Maybe Uso can stop being such a brown-noser for the sake of it as well.
