6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (July 2)

3. “I’m Inevitable”

Man, Edge has been missed.

His opening promo on SmackDown was simply strong as f*ck. The Canadian legend also achieved the impossible by throwing a pic up onto the tron and making his banter about it entertaining. That never happens! Edge's deep-dive on Roman's scared expressions was fab.

The fact he wasn't interrupted by Jimmy Uso, Paul Heyman or somebody else only made the segment better too. This was 100% Edge, and he was 100% motivated to sell his ass off and convince everybody that MITB is worth watching. Here's hoping everybody backstage was taking notes on this one.

By describing himself as "inevitable", Edge successfully built towards a must-see Universal Title match on his own. That takes unbelievable skill, and it's something of a lost art in modern-day WWE. Who would've thought that a super-serious promo delivered by a world class orator could work, eh?
