6 Ups & 4 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (8 July)
Callihan arrested, Deonna issues a challenge, Morrissey destroys goobers.
Slammiversary is now just eight days away, going down on 17 July at Nashville's Skyway Studios, so where's the build for it been?
Until last night's broadcast, only three matches had been confirmed for the show, with a further four added last night. It felt entirely like IMPACT were promoting the show just by having Kenny Omega and Sami Callihan main event the thing, and by having Ultimate X returning for the first time in over two years. As tantalising as those two bouts are, it's not enough.
That said, some of the new matches confirmed last night were done so with some entertaining in-ring action. W. Morrissey accepting Eddie Edwards' challenge, and then laying waste to three jobbers like it was nothing was exceptional. Deonna Purrazzo, meanwhile, will be challenged by an opponent handpicked by Scott D'Amore and Gail Kim come 17 July. This came after 'The Virtuosa's' open challenge was answered by a debuting Lady Frost, whom Deonna put away with relative ease.
Oh, and Sami Callihan was arrested ahead of his anticipated contract signing with 'The Best Bout Machine'. This episode, needless to say, was a journey.
Let's get to it...
