6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE NXT UK (18 March)

5. Dani Luna Shines

Meiko Satomura
WWE

There was no way Dani Luna was going to see off Meiko Satomura last night, but she still put in a decent performance against NXT UK's 'Final Boss'.

The Croydon native had the power advantage over Satomura, which she used to good effect. She didn't have the striking ability possessed by the Japanese icon, however, she could easily toss Meiko all over the ring. She did just that. A few niggling body parts aside, courtesy of those aforementioned Meiko Satomura strikes, this felt like Dani Luna's coming out party. You almost believed that "Oh, wait, maybe she can?". The Scorpio Rising kick from Satomura ended Luna's night, of course, but it didn't matter that much. Meiko herself showed respect to Luna post-match, with Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster giving her some advice backstage after the bell.

It looks like NXT UK may be trying to build a star out of Dani Luna. About time. She first made her debut for the brand on the 3 July 2019 edition of the show, losing to Jazzy Gabert. She didn't pick up her first win until this year, and even then, it was against the low-ranked Aleah James. This is what she needed to get over. Luna is being set up for a future Women's Championship reign; watch this space.
