6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (13 April - Results & Review)

UPS…

6. An Inoffensive, Meaningless Match

WWE Raw Lyra Valkyria Charlotte Flair
WWE

Once upon a time, a young superstar defeating a 14-time world champion would be a big deal, worthy of praise and an indication of momentum for that wrestler.

But in the build to a four-way women’s tag team title match at WrestleMania 42, Lyra Valkyria rolling up Charlotte Flair is merely the latest chapter in a never-ending, meandering build to this weekend’s show, with wrestlers from most of the teams competing in singles matches that all either end in chaos or a shmozz, with the participants getting involved.

This match was no different, with Bayley tripping Flair and allowing Lyra to pick up the win. But before that foolishness, Valkyria and Charlotte had a pretty decent little match going, with Lyra refusing to be intimidated by the Queen. Both women fought to land their moonsaults, with Charlotte finally hitting hers, but an attempted Natural Selection went awry and Valkyria pulled out a fisherman buster for a two count before the rollups ended the match.

Ultimately, the win will mean nothing and be forgotten before the weekend arrives, but go-home shows before WrestleMania tend not to be much for quality wrestling, so let’s take this for what it was.
