3. Funko Pop Head
When Becky Lynch inadvertently points out how stupid an unrelated storyline is en route to challenging for a world title, you know it’s a bad angle.
Joe Hendry did not appear live on Raw, but they aired a clip of him strumming amongst fans, singing the song he previously performed about JD McDonagh and how his mom fell in love with a giant Funko Pop, which is how the large-headed JD was conceived. Yes, that’s a real song and the basis for a feud.
The Judgment Day came out, and McDonagh called out Hendry, talking about how this had affected his mother, causing her stress. The rest of Judgment Day began chiming in, with Liv Morgan talking about regaining her Women’s World Championship, when Lynch appeared in the crowd and called out… Jordan Devlin McDonagh.
Lynch noted that she’s known JD since they were 12 and that she knew and had spoken to his mother, Patricia. Becky said his mom was stressed because “her only son is out here dressed in gang wear, playing towel boy to a bunch of inept dopes, and getting owned by a Funko Pop head.”
Woof. RIP to McDonagh’s career.
In all seriousness, what are we doing here with these Joe Hendry songs? They’re not creative or funny. They’re the lowest of common denominators, best forgotten quickly so fans don’t have to relive this stuff. That’s not to say that JD and Joe should be main-eventing Raw in a 60-minute Iron Man for a world title shot, but if this is the best that WWE has got, then they’re creatively bankrupt.
