6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (8 Nov - Results & Review)
3. Get A Move On With A-Town Down Under!
Remember all those times Grayson Waller irked Austin Theory by gaslighting him into believing he had his partner's best interests at heart? Theory doesn't, and neither do WWE's writers. That plot thread has evaporated into thin air recently. The creative team must've thought better of it, but they need to think again because these lads are clearly toast as a full-time tag-team that means anything to the division.
Turning Theory babyface and seeing if that'll springboard him to the main event level permanently would be the way to go. What's the alternative? Seeing him continue to tread water and make up numbers with Waller in the tag ranks isn't satisfying. The way WWE kicked off A-Town Down Under's split story then thought better of it is slightly annoying. They were pretty far down the road with it before scrapping the whole thing.
Of course, Hunter can always knock heads together and come back to it eventually, but they'd only have to do the same leg work all over again to reach the same point. By now, Austin should've realised that Waller is only keeping him around to further his own ambitions. Christ, come to think of it, they've even ditched that side of Grayson's character over the past few months!
Both members in A-Town deserve better than becoming late-2024/early-2025's version of Angel and Humberto. In other words, there's no need to turn them into a tag on the fringes who are only useful when someone more important needs a routine win. Their match was solid this week (more on that later), but the lack of movement on the story front is agonising.
