6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Mar 18)

3. No Backup Needed

Drew McIntyre The Viking Raiders

So, why did Drew McIntyre need The Viking Raiders here?

He took care of every heel who stepped up to him last week, and he did it by himself. WWE's booking of this entire rivalry between Drew and Happy Corbin has been so offensively weak that it's a joke at this point. Again, the match wasn't bad, but this spot on cards is still an insult to McIntyre.

The Scot has taken up permanent residence in the 'Downs' due to it, which sucks. Come WrestleMania, Drew will try his best to pull a worthwhile match out of Corbin, but there's zero threat on the heel side. Why should fans believe that Happy has a snowball's chance in hell when McIntyre literally just pasted everybody?

Erik and Ivar are lost in the mix again too. They've gone from facing The Usos for the SmackDown Tag-Team Titles and being called smelly to making up the numbers alongside Drew in a story that doesn't even really involve them. It...isn't good.
