6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Sept 30)
1. Can We Talk About Production?
What was up with the closing stretch of the six-man?
Kevin Dunn's crew totally missed Kevin Owens hitting a Stunner on Chad Gable atop the announce desk. Then, compounding the problem, the camera angle didn't change in time to see Drew McIntyre drop Austin Theory with a match-winning Claymore Kick. That was a two-for-one on production botches.
In short, the folks in the truck bizarrely stopped switching angles every 0.2 seconds when that was actually needed. Yeah, everyone complains about your trigger-happy approach to angle changes, Kev, but come on. This was unacceptably shoddy, and the kind of thing an indy company would get sh*t for.
Not one ounce of blame goes on the cameramen and women around ringside - they were clearly filming everything, but Dunn's the one in control of the buttons. The way WWE produces content needs an overhaul, to be honest.
