6 Ups & 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Nov 20)
1. Paige's Powershift
Last night's Raw was defined by a huge powershift in the women's division, and it was a complete success.
Paige's bombastic entrance music drew what was easily the largest pop of the night. She came off like a gigantic star, and WWE wisely kept her mic work to a minimum, opting only for a few succinct, well-placed lines over a lengthy diatribe. Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville clicked, too. The fans gave the debutants a tremendous response. "N-X-T" chants filled the building as they destroyed Mickie James and Sasha Banks. The atmosphere was white hot. It was great.
Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss wasn't safe, either. She attempted to welcome the trio to Raw after the beatdown, but was soon laid out in the corridor, left for dead like Banks and James before her, which firmly establishes the group as Raw's alphas.
Even in NXT, Sonya and Mandy are almost complete unknowns. This means it would've been easy for a segment like this to fall flat on its face, but it didn't. They're already over, and so is Paige, who immediately became the biggest thing in the division. Let's hope that WWE are able to maintain the buzz generated last night - it's exactly what the show needs at the moment.
