6 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (22 April - Results & Review)

5. Priest’s Long Road To Babyface

Judgment Day
WWE

It’s clear that WWE wants Damian Priest to eventually stand on his own, apart from Judgment Day.

The new World Heavyweight Champion has at times been at odds with his stablemates and their tactics, but he’s grown increasingly impatient with their antics in recent weeks, finally bubbling over a bit Monday night. JD McDonagh committed the first sin, jumping Jey Uso in the opening segment and leading to Priest taking an Uso superkick.

Backstage, Damian blew up at Dominik Mysterio and JD, telling them to handle their business – and stay out of his. Unsurprisingly, the group could not handle Ricochet and Andrade, leaving it to Priest to jump the two of them afterward and lay both out. That might not be a babyface move, but he immediately turned to JD and Dom, telling them, “I don’t need anybody; you guys need me.”

Conflict like this is setting the stage for the rest of Judgment Day to grow tired of Priest and oust him, which presumably would make him a good guy finally. It makes sense – Judgment Day has been going on for two years now, so it’s about time they drastically shook things up. And Priest could be an effective badass babyface if given the opportunity.
