6 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Mar 27)
4. That Sound Effect For Elias
As mentioned during the intro, WWE are trying to give each match on the WrestleMania card some depth and meaning. That's commendable. Using cheap, B-movie sound effects isn't. The 'whoosh' sound that accompanied Elias' fall from he platform to the concrete floor below on SmackDown was intolerably bad.
Cheesy would be an understatement.
It's fine for 'King' Corbin to sneak attack, and it's even fine for Eli to rib his foes with toilet humour-laced tunes before they do. However, covering up the fact that Elias blatantly fell on a big crash mat with a noise that sounded like someone hitting a crash mat was poor.
Michael Cole's solemn, hushed voice before the incident's replay didn't help either. Perhaps the only solace fans who already hate this match can take from the skit is that Cole's tone suggested WWE might pull Elias vs. Corbin from the card.
