2. Gunther Brings The Fire

It really is a shame that Gunther versus Goldberg has a 0% chance of being an epic match, because both men brought their A-game to their respective segments Monday night.

Goldberg’s was pretty good, but Gunther delivered another fire promo, coming to the ring to complain about being interrupted when he was supposed to be celebrating his World Heavyweight Championship victory last week. The Ring General said that being dubbed “next” by the Hall-of-Famer used to mean spear, jackhammer, 1-2-3 from the most destructive man of his generation.

However, this “is not 1999, it’s 2025” and Gunther plainly stated that he’s the guy, the best wrestler in the world. He called Goldberg a “58-year-old one-trick pony who can’t lace my boots” and promised to apologize to his family for everything he was about to do to the WCW icon at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Gunther said he’s going to make sure the myth and legacy of Goldberg forever dies.

There was no fat on this promo. It was straight and to the point, aggressive, unambiguous, and heartfelt (within the story). Just fantastic work that made you forget that this match is mostly going to be a car crash in three weeks.
