Ups…

6. Harmless Fun

Not everything can be a serious storyline that will make year-end lists of most influential rivalry. Sometimes, a simple and silly angle is a good little diversion.

Witness Otis being scouted by Maximum Male Models, with Maxxine Dupri wooing the big guy and causing him to lose his mind trying to impress her. Otis apparently running into the locker room and looking for someone to have “hot action” with was humorous, with Johnny Gargano being confused until he realized he wanted a match.

The match itself was harmless fun, with Gargano continually trying to chop down the bigger Otis, who just used his size and strength repeatedly. The silliness came when ma.çé got involved and Dexter Lumis popped up to save his buddy Johnny Wrestling. Gargano then chatted up Maxxine, which upset and distracted Otis, who ate two DDTs – one on the apron, One Final Beat – to lose.

Throw in Corey Graves’ cheeky “PC parking lot” quip about Lumis’ attack and you had your comedy match that didn’t ever feel like it wasn’t still a match. Plus, who doesn’t want to see Otis get a makeover?
