6. Gable Gets Big-Time Cheers

One of the big questions after SummerSlam revolved around new Intercontinental Champion Chad Gable and whether fans outside his home state of Minnesota would receive him as a hero.

Monday night, we got our answer, and it was a resounding yes.

Gable and Penta had a mutual admiration society that Judgment Day interrupted, triggering an impromptu tag match between the pairs. The match was every bit the quality action one would expect with these four, but the highlight came when Gable went for a moonsault on Dominik Mysterio, but Dom got the boot up, only for Chad to catch it and cinch in the anklelock. Fans went bananas for that, cheering like crazy as he rolled through, refusing to let go.

Penta helped by wiping JD McDonagh out with a Mexican Destroyer on the floor, and then he repaid Dominik’s attempt to cheat (hiding the ring bell hammer in his boot) by walloping him with the IC title. That allowed Gable to hit the Chaos Theory for the win.

Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come with Gable. Let’s just hope the apology tour has officially come to an end and he can just focus on being a great wrestler and champion.
