4. Impromptu DQ

It’s bad enough to book an impromptu match involving the top contender for your world title, but WWE always manages to find a way to lump another trope on top of that trope.

Shinsuke Nakamura faced off against Ricochet after the One and Only defended Seth Rollins from an attack, as the match was made during a commercial break. The bout went a good 10 minutes before Nakamura grabbed a chair and beat on Ricochet for the DQ, then wrapped the chair around his head to draw Rollins back out for a brawl.

Why would you take the match and then fight for 10 minutes before getting disqualified? The real-life answer has to do with a three-hour Raw, but for Shinsuke, this was just baffling, as WWE piled the “long match ends in a DQ” trope onto the “let’s make an impromptu match during the break” one.
