5. AJ’s Master Plan

The occasional silly humor can be a welcome part of a wrestling show, if done right. But the hijinks involving AJ Styles and the Street Profits, was not it.

Styles did a backstage interview where he claimed that the Profits had blinded him with a fire extinguisher last week, and he still couldn’t see, to the point of Omos having to shave his beard for him. This led to AJ & Omos coming out for commentary during a match against Alpha Academy and the Street Profits.

This is where it got really sad. The Profits and Alphas are high-performing tag teams, so this should have been a competitive bout to determine the new #1 contenders since the Dirty Dawgs had just lost their title shot. Instead, it was all a lazy backdrop for Styles’ “humor” about being blind… right up until he sprung out of his chair and charged the turnbuckle to get to Montez Ford, unsuccessfully.

Styles got knocked off the apron, and seconds later, Ford hit a frog splash to pin Chad Gable. So AJ’s entire plan after pretending to be blind was to try futilely to attack the Profits during a tag match? Come on.
