6 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (Nov 29)

Downs…

6. Expect The Unexpected

There was a time when sharing the screen with Vince McMahon was a surefire sign you were getting a mega-push. Just spending time on TV with Vince would be a huge boon.

And who knows? Maybe things will look up for Austin Theory and this will lead somewhere big. WWE hasn’t managed to bungle his first couple of months on the main roster yet. He got a world title match as a rookie and has gotten plenty of TV time, winning matches and having memorable put-downs of veterans via selfie.

But on Monday night, Theory sat in Vince’s office to watch all of Raw, with the chairman berating him to “expect the unexpected” and to keep looking at him. This went on in several bizarre segments, finally culminating with McMahon slapping Austin and telling him he had much to learn (as he didn’t expect that unexpected slap).

It wasn’t terrible, but it certainly wasn’t entertaining. It just felt very awkward. But again, this could turn on its head and be gold next week if they really are invested in Theory. For now, this will be a very, very mild “down.”
