6 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE's Road To WrestleMania 36

4. The Ruination Of The 'Fiend'

There's an argument to be made that Bray Wyatt's 'Fiend' gimmick was dead as soon as he won that Universal Title from Seth Rollins. In fact, last October's HIAC lunacy probably put an end to his immediate effectiveness before that. Even so, fans were willing to forgive and forget if Wyatt's WrestleMania feud was killer.

It wasn't 'killer' so much as 'killed'.

Now look, your writer saw the bright side in Goldberg creaming Bray over in Saudi. It'd allow WWE to book more big matches at 'Mania, he thought, and seeing big Bill romp to another soul-healing win (to make up for 2019's dismal match with The Undertaker) was always going to appeal to any long-time WCW mark.

It didn't do much for Bray however. His WrestleMania dreams went up in smoke, and he's been forced to try and make the best of WWE's spotty booking once again by continuing to brave face his latest feud against John Cena. He better win that one, otherwise Wyatt is finished for good.
