6 Ups & 8 Downs From WWE Raw (Jan 17)

3. Watch Out For The Damian Side!

It’s official: the Damian side of Damian Priest is the Poochie of WWE.

(For the uninformed, Poochie is a Simpsons reference to a character who becomes the center of attention and takes over the Itchy & Scratchy Show, with Homer – Poochie’s voice – saying everyone should talk about him constantly, even when he’s not around.)

Literally every time Priest was on camera Monday night, people talked about his uncontrollable dark side: Edge, Kevin Owens, the announcers. All of them had to reference it, and KO had to be fearful of it during their entire match, backing off an attack because it might set Priest off and unleash the Damian side.

This is so, so stupid, and yet it persists, as WWE takes a character who was actually over with fans and refocuses on this one-dimensional characteristic that makes him look incompetent, not stronger.
