6 Ups & 8 Downs From WWE Raw (Sep 20)
4. Ooooh, It’s Personal Now!
Memo to WWE: Some softcore personal, kayfabe-bending jabs and calling each other a bitch does not make a program suddenly interesting.
But that’s what the company was banking when they had Charlotte Flair visit Alexa’s Playground. Alexa Bliss said she wanted to have fun, but Flair instead cut into Bliss, saying she wanted the former champ, the Five Feet of Fury. Charlotte dug at her opponent, saying her new gimmick was all a pathetic attempt to hide how fragile and delicate she really is, then wondered how she went from main-eventing WrestleMania 35 to sharing the ring with a doll.
The segment dragged on with Bliss questioning who Charlotte was if she didn’t have a title around her waist, and it ended with Flair tearing up Charly the doll, a brawl, and Alexa getting the upper hand with a DDT.
If this was meant to start to unwind this childlike Bliss persona, then we’re all for it. But if not, this was a horrible waste in which Charlotte basically no-sold Alexa’s entire character and just shredded it on live TV for no reason other than to sell people on a PPV match no one cares about.
