6 Ups And 10 Downs From WWE Fastlane 2016

5. Weak Retention

WWE did the right thing by having Kalisto retain the United States Championship Sunday night, moving past Alberto Del Rio in a 2-out-of-3 falls match that should mark the end of the game of hot potato the two have been playing with the title.

However, the bookers did Kalisto no favors at all in how he won the match. The luchador won the bout, two falls to one, winning the first fall when Del Rio got disqualified for using a steel chair, and then rolled up Alberto in the deciding fall for the title defense. So the champ retained his title with a DQ win and a rollup. That doesn€™t exactly sound like a ringing endorsement.

Hopefully, Kalisto will go on to have some success with the title and be booked more strongly, but he certainly would have benefited from winning more convincingly.
