6 Ups And 2 Downs From WWE NXT 2.0: Vengeance Day (Feb 15)

5. Toxic Attraction Retain In First Defence Since OCTOBER!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the issue with NXT's women's tag division has never really been the calibre of performer available to put together exciting matches or interesting feuds. It's just evident that those booking the product have next to no interest in committing TV time to these straps or a gripping feud that will help elevate both the women involved and the titles themselves.

And while last night's showdown between Champions Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne and Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta was a solid enough effort, the fact that it still felt somewhat thrown together and only acted as Toxic Attractions first (!) defence of the belt since winning them all the way back in October is an indictment on the current mentality when it pertains to the titles and division.

Again, Dolin and Jayne looked effective as opportunistic heels, capitalising on the numbers game after taking out Persia at ringside and catching Hartwell off-balance. But unless the duo are able to squeeze in a few more dominant defences between now and the end of the incoming Dusty Cup, will anyone really care about who faces the champs at the end of that tournament?

A positive on the night, but there's still a ton of work to be done for this division to truly succeed.
