6 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (April 30th)
5. Itami Is Ready For His Shot At The Gold
Of all of the WWE's grandstand independent signing, Hideo Itami, formerly known as KENTA, has been the most subdued. He has seen men who arrived after him, like Balor and Owens, go straight for the big gold, whereas the innovator of the GTS has been somewhat lost. He had decent mid card feuds with the Ascension and Tyler Breeze, but for a man as heralded as he was upon entering the company, Itami has not yet fully revealed his blue chip potential. Instead the commentary team have been waving off this lack of success as him 'adapting to the WWE style'. Expect that all to change very soon. The Japanese superstar recently picked a surprising major victory in the NXT Wrestlemania tournament and was welcomed onto the WWE's grandest stage of them all by an appreciative crowd chanting his name. His journey to the showcase of the immortals and his rise through the ranks of the company were highlighted in a recent affecting mini-documentary featured on NXT. With Balor and Breeze possibly setting themselves up for a singles feud further down the road, fans of Itami can start to feel confident about him emerging from Takeover the next in line for a shot at the title. It's about damn time.
