Right out of the gate, let’s note that some will love this segment and some will despise it.

Stephanie McMahon – the paton saint of all things WWE women’s wrestling – showed up to Raw and marched to the ring to make an announcement. She interrupted a full-on brawl to unveil that there will be a women’s Royal Rumble match next month in Philadelphia.

The news was met with cheers from fans and hugs from the women. It was a rare moment where Stephanie didn’t talk about herself or something like that. Rather, she put over her colleagues’ accomplishments in the name of women’s wrestling in recent years. It all was very… un-Stephanie.

And some will hate the breakdown in storyline, while others will insist that it was just the right move to push for the best path forward.
