6 Ups And 4 Downs From WWE Night Of Champions 2023

4. WWE: We Know Drama

There’s a lot that can be said about the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship main event, a lot to like, some stuff to criticize, but the over net has to be positive.

Sami Zayn wrestled in Saudi Arabia for the first time, due to Syria and Saudi Arabia restoring diplomatic ties. He even got to give ring introductions in Arabic. The champs retained, preventing Roman Reigns from holding even more titles. The Bloodline fractured, with Jimmy Uso superkicking Reigns and taking Jey with him afterward.

But in addition to the lengthy delay between referees as mentioned earlier, you had the long drama in general playing out mid-match between wrestlers not involved in the match itself, which is becoming a Bloodline staple of late.

And then there’s the issue of Roman being turned on and superkicked multiple times… and still not taking a pinfall. If ever there was an opportunity to really give Sami or KO a pelt, it was having them pin Reigns. But instead, it was Solo taking the fall. Guys, Roman already retained the titles at WrestleMania. That’s the prize, not the undefeated streak.

Overall though, this was a pretty decent scene, though it was by no means the biggest and best news on the night.
