6 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Oct 28)

4. AOP Admits Their Game

The ongoing Authors of Pain promos have been largely dull, but effective.

Akam and Rezar have issued a series of promos in their native languages, even though both men are capable of speaking English. But rather than this just devolving into a “heel foreigner” gimmick, AOP revealed their angle. They noted that other wrestlers have been unnerved by them speaking in their native tongues, which is exactly what they want: their opponents disconcerted and thrown off.

Warfare, they said, isn’t just physical, it’s mental too. And if they throw their opponents off by talking in their own languages, then that’s an advantage for them. Similarly, they said they would use every wrestling style at their disposal to gain control.

It was a simple promo, but it stood out from several recent ones. Now, can we get AOP into a ring to start wrecking some jobbers?
