It’s not often that you can say that losing two curtain-jerking matches in a row is a step up, but Jason Jordan certainly stands to benefit from his loss last week to John Cena and his defeat at the hands of Roman Reigns on Monday.

For the second week in a row, Raw opened with a Jason Jordan match that went about 20 minutes. And once again, Jordan came close to knocking off a former world champion, falling just short before falling to his opponent. The defeat itself might be seen as a setback, but ask yourself this: What would work better for JJ – beating Curt Hawkins in a heatless, 90-second match, or losing to Roman Reigns after taking him to the limit for 20 minutes?

Now, the big thing here is that Jordan can’t become an afterthought. If he’s sitting on the sidelines at No Mercy with nothing to do, then these character-building losses will be wasted. Jordan showed casual fans that he can hang, and now WWE needs to figure out how to convert that into progress.
