6 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Oct 9)

2. Mickie Kills It

Now this is the Mickie James we’ve been waiting to see.

The six-time former WWE women’s champion has been stuck in a weird limbo since her return to the company. She has been regaled as a legend, but she hasn’t gotten any traction in the ring. And then, the writers suddenly decided that she would be an ideal challenger for Alexa Bliss at TLC. And Mickie responded.

James hit her promo out of the park Monday, poking fun at her accent and age, and laying into Bliss, telling her to jump out of her booster seat and put her “big girl pants” on. Mickie said she had more energy than Alexa had cheap hair extensions and pink hair dye. It was an energetic, fiery promo that got fans cheering her pretty decently.

And then Alexa came out and played a “tribute” video, which was set up like an old-timey video, complete with jumpy black & white visuals and a campy narrator. Normally, WWE’s video’s like this are corny and lame, but this one worked nicely.

This writer has gone from viewing Mickie as the flavor of the month to hoping she gets one last title reign.
