6 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Hell In A Cell 2017

4. Something For Sami

A spot was reserved in the “downs” section to lament how Sami Zayn had been on the periphery of the Shane McMahon/Kevin Owens rivalry but was left off the PPV entirely. Thankfully, that item wasn’t written before the last five minutes of Hell in a Cell.

Zayn showed up at the end of the HIAC match between KO and McMahon, and he made a big impact. Sami pulled his former (and now current?) best friend Owens off the announce table seconds before Shane plummeted through it after jumping off the cell. Then, Zayn dragged KO’s carcass over to pin McMahon.

While that might constitute a heel turn – which would be a huge character swing for him – Sami looked conflicted as he walked off. Regardless, it still was a fairly big development for Zayn, a guy who has been given little to do in WWE for the past year other than reliably have great matches on the undercard.

As long as Sami isn’t bound for serving as Shane’s victim at the next PPV, this is at least something that looks better than doing nothing.
