3. Passing The Torch

When word got around that Mick Foley was going to appear on Raw Monday night, thoughts had to race about how he would be involved. Would he appear in the same segment as the Undertaker as his former Hell in a Cell opponent? Would he confront Shane McMahon about facing Taker in the cell?

Instead, we saw Foley in a fun little backstage segment with Dean Ambrose with a symbolic passing of the torch, with Ambrose taking up the mantle as the crazy hardcore wrestler. Of course, Ambrose is a really good in-ring performer (as his match at Roadblock would indicate), but he also has a reputation for excelling at €œgarbage matches.€

So it made perfect sense for the Hardcore Legend to bestow upon the Lunatic Fringe his beloved barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat. And it could be a perfect equalizer for Dean in dealing with Brock Lesnar.

By the way, did anyone else when Mick called it a passing of the torch immediately think of the time he lit the bat on fire in Hell in a Cell against Triple H?
