7 Countries Better Suited For NXT Than Japan
5. Canada
With a history almost as vast as pro wrestling in the United States, Canada had their first recognized promotion open in 1930. And it has been a part of Canadian culture ever since.
Whether it be Stampede Wrestling that brought us the Hart family, the storied matches from Border City Wrestling, or the growth of ECCW, there are many examples which show the rich history of the squared circle in the Great White North. But despite being the United States' neighbor, Vince has largely stayed out.
After he bought Stampede Wrestling and Maple Leaf Wrestling primarily for their talent, he hasn't had much of an impact on the Canadian scene. But with NXT Japan seemingly floundering, now may be the time once again 35 years or so later.
And it would be a bit of a full circle moment for NXT. Besides being heavily influenced by the Hart Dungeon/Stampede Wrestling style and also including Hart family alumni, NXT also has one more connection: Mauro Ranallo.
The pop culture popping presenter of the black and gold brand started at just 16 years old with All-Star Wrestling in Ontario, and also worked for Stampede Wrestling from 1999 to 2000.
Bringing an NXT brand to Canada and letting Mauro call the action would be a great service to somebody who has stuck by WWE through some rather rough waters (looking at you JBL) in the past.
And it seems like a no brainer of sorts doesn't it? The cost would be far lower than any other country named here and may be a primetime for a territorial takeover of sorts.
And if Vince starts out by buying ECCW, at least he can say he scored a victory against an "elite" wrestling company in North America.
