7 Countries That Have Had The Most Impact On WWE

6. Ireland

Copyright: WWE Payback 2013 Blu-rayCopyright: WWE Payback 2013 Blu-rayA phrase frequently heard about the Emerald Isle is "Everyone loves the Irish". Whoever says this is not far wrong, and it seems the WWE has a lot of love for talent that emerges from the land of the leprechauns! The most successful Irish talent to have made it in the WWE is undeniably The Celtic Warrior, Sheamus. Although we may make fun of his ghostly-pale complexion and his glowing ginger hair, it has to be said that Sheamus can go in the ring when he wants to! Having trained in Irish Whip Wrestling, Sheamus actually locked horns with none other than recently released WWE superstar, Drew McIntyre at an IWW show in August 2006. Sheamus was signed to a WWE developmental contract soon after, and was quickly inserted into a main-event feud with John Cena, winning his first WWE title at the TLC Pay Per View, a mere 6 months after he made his debut, making him the first ever Irish born champion! Since then, Sheamus has had immense success in WWE, having amassed 2 WWE title reigns, a World Championship reign, 2 United States Championship reigns (which he currently holds), a Royal Rumble win, and being crowned King of the Ring in 2010. You can't argue with that, fella! Another gem to come from the island of Ireland is none other than the hot topic of the moment among WWE fans, Fergal "Prince" Devitt, from Bray, Co. Wicklow. Having learned the art of wrestling in the UK, Prince Devitt went on to make a name for himself in New Japan Pro Wrestling as one of the best technical wrestlers in the world. He debuted in NJPW IN 2006, and secured 3 IWGP Junior Heavyweight title reigns and 6 tag team title reigns during his time at NJPW. He departed from NJPW on the 7th of April 2014, and since then news websites have been rife with rumours that Prince Devitt has signed a developmental contract with WWE. However, Prince Devitt revealed on an Irish wrestling podcast, humorously named "Low Blows", that those rumours are "all speculation at the moment". Regardless of whether Devitt makes it to WWE or not, one cannot deny his and Sheamus' immense talent have shone quite a big spotlight on the Irish wrestling scene!
