7 Crazy WWE Attitude Gimmicks That Almost Happened

1. Sable As The Undertaker's Bride

It's easy to shovel sh*t onto Vince Russo (this article has already done it) for his work, but the truth is he was a damn fine ideas man during wrestling's most vibrant creative boom. One thing that's often forgotten is that Russo worked overtime to ensure that everyone on the roster had a story or some sort of new direction.

He's told before on his podcast how he pitched a storyline back in 1997 that'd see Sable ditch Marc Mero to become The Undertaker's new bride. 'Taker would undertake (ahem) a darker persona, one eerily like The Ministry Of Darkness chief he'd play in 1999, and 'gothic princess' Sable would become the most powerful woman in the promotion by his side.

The Undertaker's real-life wife at the time, Sara, reportedly didn't like the sound of that, and so the whole thing was binned.

This idea sounds realistic. Russo was self-admittedly smitten with Sable's charms and was always looking to spice up the WWF's bigger characters. Fans would have to wait another year or two before seeing a revamped 'Taker, sans Sable, on TV.
