Former teammates in the Four Horsemen, Chris Benoit and Ric Flair did battle with each other against a variety of opponents in World Championship Wrestling, but rarely went at it one-on-one. In fact, Chris Benoit vs. Ric Flair only happened on WCW TV once, and even that was on an episode of Thunder in 1999.

As Benoit, billed at 220lbs, was hurtling towards the WrestleMania XX main event and a showdown with Triple H and fellow cruiserweight Shawn Michaels, the Rabid Wolverine would come up against Hunter's mentor Flair on an episode of Monday Night RAW.

Flair rolled back the years somewhat in the match, zooming in on Benoit's legs in an attempt to gain a rare submission victory via the Figure Four Leglock. Benoit's relentless attacks were too much however, and the Crippler managed to counter a leglock attempt into his Crossface for the tap-out victory.
