7 ECW Wrestlers Who Totally Failed In WCW

1. Sabu

If you want to talk about a bad fit in WCW, there was no better example of that than Sabu. He was in ECW nearly from day one and gained a reputation as a daredevil. He took the craziest bumps in the business as a way to get noticed. He ended up getting fired by ECW in 1995 because he chose to work in Japan instead of ECW, so that opened the door for him to go to WCW. It seemed like a good idea at the time since he debuted on the second episode of Nitro in September 1995 against Alex Wright. It was a memorable match not because he won, but because he got disqualified after the win for putting Wright through a table. Keep in mind that this was 1995 and that sort of thing wasn't done on national television like that. His stay in WCW was so short that according to the Internet Wrestling Database site, he only wrestled four televised matches in WCW. His second last match was against Mr. JL (Jerry Lynn in a mask) at Halloween Havoc 1995. After Sabu won the match clean, his manager The Sheik shot a fireball into the face of Mr. JL. Apparently that upset management so much that Sabu ended up getting fired a few days later. Sabu went back to ECW soon after his short stay in WCW. He was just another example of an ECW wrestler that was unable to find success in Ted Turner's playground known as World Championship Wrestling.
