7 Implications Of Alberto Del Rio And Rey Mysterio Defying WWE
4. New Heights Outside WWE
As weve already touched on, it seems that Alberto Del Rio has become an even bigger star since leaving the ranks of the WWE. He has taken the respect and status he earned within the company and has returned home with it, skyrocketing his career into the stratosphere. Lets face it, neither Del Rio nor Mysterio were doing anything major in WWE as of late. Rey has been out with injuries for some time now, but even when he was last around, he was stuck in a dismal midcard team with Sin Cara. Meanwhile, Del Rio was floundering within the company, as his schtick had lost steam with American fans and creative seemed to have nothing exciting for him. With WWE preparing to focus on newer and younger talents, it seemed that Mysterio and Del Rios heydays were behind them. Reportedly, Alberto was looking forward to his deal with WWE ending in the near future, as he had become increasingly frustrated with his diminished role within the company. With Daniel Bryans rise, the new push for Roman Reigns, and the dominant return of Brock Lesnar, Alberto was beginning to take a backseat to others within WWE. Ever since Del Rios firing and return to Mexico, he has been discussed amongst wrestling fans and journalists more than ever. The former world champion is arguably more of a star since his release than when he was with the WWE. If Mysterio follows suit in the near future, a similar situation will likely occur.
