7 Major Questions Surrounding Roman Reigns’ WWE Suspension
4. Is Dean Just A Placeholder Champion?
I really hope that this isn’t the case, but
it’s certainly a possibility.
Dean Ambrose winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship was a huge surprise, and that’s partly why it was such an awesome moment to watch. But perhaps part of the reason it was such a surprise is that even the WWE themselves weren’t expecting it.
With the news breaking of Reigns’ violation, the WWE needed to get the belt off him—fast. Having to suspend a talent is enough of a PR issue as it is. But when that talent just happens to be the reigning champion, and therefore essentially the face of the company, that issue soon becomes a full-blown marketing nightmare.
In the hours that preceded Money in the Bank, and with a real need to make a decision quickly, who better to take the title from Reigns than Dean Ambrose—the soon-to-be-newly crowned Mr. Money in the Bank?
Of course, this could just be excessive worrying on my part. Besides, a video of Ambrose’s side plates being mounted was uploaded fairly sharply, suggesting that his win was at least planned to some degree. I hope.
