7 Minor Changes That Would Make A Big Difference To WWE Elimination Chamber 2018

1. Remove John Cena

John Cena finds himself in a very peculiar position as 2018 rumbles on. Initially drafted to SmackDown, Cena was nonsensically reverted to ‘Free Agent’ status in order to rush through a match with Roman Reigns, and has since shown up on both shows seemingly whenever he feels like it. It is a stretch to explain, but Cena’s status as the biggest star on either show makes it impossible to do so.

At this point in his career, it is clear that Cena is little more than cash cow to wheel out whenever ratings need a push. Wins over the great man are starting to lose their importance, and his value as an in-ring competitor is decreasing because of it. It really would be best for all involved if Cena stuck to one show, rather than flip-flopping whenever an opportunity presents itself.

The Elimination Chamber match is one man too heavy, and that man is the 16-time world champion. Take him out of the match, and you have an interesting mix of established main event performers and new stars. With him in the match, you have both of those plus an increasingly irrelevant dinosaur.

The 2018 Elimination Chamber is yet another WWE pay-per-view in danger of flopping. This seems to be a frequent occurrence, but its proximity to WrestleMania makes this extra worrying. WWE must fix this before it is too late.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
