After weeks of speculation, an announcement is expected imminently in connection with the rumoured Jeff Jarrett/World of Sport partnership.

If past conduct is a reliable indication of future performance, American Wrestling Association 1986 Rookie Of The Year Jarrett may well feel the need to establish himself as the star of this new brand, in order to lend his famed headliner credentials to a scene that isn't already the hotbed of pro wrestling. Expect him to defeat the likes of Zack Gibson and Joe Coffey for a few years, stigmatise them as young men who can't get one over an a 1990s relic, and then bother to push them, just as their currency has been irreversibly devalued. That's how you elevate the next generation, Slap Nuts.

That's assuming of course that this joint venture even gets off the ground. Jarrett has spent years attempting to turn Global Force Wrestling into an, erm, global force, but the only thing he was close to achieving was embroiling fans in a Ponzi scheme.

If this deal between Anthem Sports and World of Sport does materialise, it's unclear under which banner the new brand will operate, given that he's also struck a deal to air Impact Wrestling on Spike in the UK. A new name is likely, the creation of which shouldn't prove too difficult for Jarrett, who first attempted to rebrand TNA into Impact Wrestling in 2011. It only took him six years to finalise the change.

If he doesn't go with World of Sport, expect an announcement in 2023.
