3. Bill DeMott Trained Kevin Owens

Bill DeMott was this week asked during an interview with Hannibal TV - the same show, incidentally, which first broke his involvement in the legendary jelly doughnut scandal that belatedly hastened his second developmental departure - about his WrestleMania Moment.

He didn't really have one, of course, because his onscreen run was dire. He muttered something about watching WrestleMania X-Seven in a box because Shawn Stasiak quashed a mooted in-ring appearance with his loose lips. But see, DeMott has left a lasting impression on the grandest stage! According to him, he had a major hand in developing Kevin Owens and Charlotte, who have featured prominently at WrestleManias 32 and 33.

Stated DeMott: "You got Kevin Owens, and Charlotte. You go across the board now and there’s nothing better than to know you had something to do with somebody. I’m proud of them all."

Kevin Owens was in NXT for a cup of coffee, during which time he borrowed Kassius Ohno's initials to sell some t-shirts and did little more than scale back his in-ring game, honed by a decade and a half of independent experience, by about 5%. Owens in a 2016 Busted Open Radio interview credited Triple H, Matt Bloom, Terry Taylor and Dusty Rhodes - everybody but DeMott, essentially - with his subsequent progress.

Charlotte was an in-house developmental prospect, who WWE taught and built from scratch, but her growth is largely if not exclusively down to the lauded ability of Sara Del Rey.

DeMott didn't badly injure Owens nor Charlotte, at least. Perhaps that's what he was getting at.
