7 New Directions For WWE After Night Of Champions 2025

New directions, New Jersey for SummerSlam and new...Cody Rhodes for WWE?

WWE's Night Of Champions 2025 is in the history books, and attentions will quickly turn to Saturday Night's Main Event for Goldberg's last hurrah on 12 July, the all-female Evolution PLE on 13 July, and then towards a double helping of SummerSlam in early-August. By then, new King Of The Ring and top babyface Cody Rhodes could've changed a little; or at least hardened a little.

There were some seriously interesting facial expressions on show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday evening. Cody. Randy Orton and John Cena all displayed characteristics ill-fitting with the current alignment of their characters. Is this a case of somebody looking into things just a bit too deeply, or is there plenty to take away from NOC and these dramatic performances?

Other new directions include Solo Sikoa's next faction dominating the midcard on episodes of SmackDown for the foreseeable, a popular Women's Champion being dethroned so WWE can rekindle an old feud that stretches back to last year, a male World Title quest beginning in earnest and peaking with more WrestleMania magic for one of the roster's most beloved stars, and much, much more.

It's unquestionably the thought of a 'Mania 13-esque double turn that'll steal the attention in these pages though. Would Hunter really be willing to gamble with two of his biggest names, and could they even pull such a double switch off in the pressure cooker environment that comes with headlining SummerSlam? Brace yourselves, because we just might be about to find out.

Here's where WWE (probably) goes next after Night Of Champs.

7. A Midcard Bloodline Dominating

Say hello to Solo Sikoa's erm...absolutely gigantic friend.

Hikuleo hit the WWE news headlines a while back after working a match before SmackDown went live, but he debuted as Tala Tonga at Night Of Champions. What's more, the big man came across as somebody totally capable of roughing up babyface wrecking ball Jacob Fatu, and it was his interference that led to Solo winning the United States Title.

Tonga Loa’s earlier return during the same match means that Sikoa has yet another group backing him up. Toss JC Mateo into that mix (he was tanking in the role on his own) and Jacob will have to find friends of his own fast. He has something cooking on that front with Jimmy Uso, so you have to believe Jey will be involved somewhere down the line too as well.

For now, it’s Solo and troops who’ll dominate the SmackDown midcard, at least until Fatu regains the United States Title. One can see that happening in some sort of gimmick match at SummerSlam, so...Jacob vs. Tala at Saturday Night's Main Event? Or maybe it'll be Solo and Tala vs. Fatu and Jimmy on that TV special. Either one works, but the tag seems more likely.

Those who didn't like Sikoa's fairly dominant run as a wannabe Roman Reigns last summer might not like what's coming next. He'll cut a few lengthier promos on Friday nights to put over his newly-assembled 'Midcard Bloodline' and build towards another match with Jacob.

Fans should expect Tala to play a major role in things.
