7 Observations From Attending WWE Raw Live In Missouri

2. The Crowning Of Sami Zayn

Perhaps the most noteworthy thing that happened in the crowd on Monday Night RAW was the feverish support that slowly built to the ultimate crescendo for fan favorite, Sami Zayn. When Kevin Owens came out to much-deserved heat following his clean victory over Sami Zayn the night before at WWE Payback, you could feel the tension rising and building in the arena. The fans in attendance wanted Kevin Owens to shut his mouth. The salt he was pouring into the wound left by Zayn’s loss—or just his victory, depending on the fan—was too much to bear.

When Sami Zayn’s music hit, a small but vocal portion of the crowd erupted at the sign of Zayn making an appearance following his post-match beat down by Owens. When he came into the ring and cleaned house among the participants in the eluded-to Fatal Four Way Intercontinental Championship match at Extreme Rules, the cheers became infectious. But it was that shooting glance at the championship title itself that shot chills down the spines of those in attendance, changing the feeling in the building from “we’re happy to see this guy” to “this is our guy.”

Let’s face it, Sami is the most likeable wrestler on the roster. He’s the person you’d like to be pals with, go grab a brew and take in a concert with. He’s relatable. Wrestling loves proper underdogs, and he’s the personification of that. When the glance at the title became a stare down, the Scottrade Center came unglued, as everyone in attendance began throwing their fingers up in the air and giving him the Daniel Bryan “Yes!” treatment. Yes, indeed, this is something we can’t wait to see.
