7 Potential Storylines That Could Improve WWE
4. Blur The Lines Between Heel And Babyface
The divide between heel and babyface is not as strong as it was during the glory days of WWE.
Many fans nowadays cheer for the charismatic heel and boo the one dimensional babyface. Becky Lynch again is another great example of this. Despite being written as a bad guy, fans agreed with every word of her vehement promos against Charlotte Flair post SummerSlam 2018.
It goes against the majority of WWE's status quo but continuing to blur the lines between the good guys and the bad guys would make for interesting story-telling. If Lynch and Rollins were slowly positioned as the faces of the company feuding against a stable of former underdogs, it would add complex layers of plot that appeals to the modern day wrestling fan. The Man and The Architect could lose sight of their own backgrounds, becoming that which they have fought so hard against.
Rollins' recent Twitter spat with Will Ospreay is an indication of a potential future villainous persona - though he must take care to not cross the line from heel territory into provoking genuine dislike from fans. This blurred line between heel and babyface will only function if he still remains sympathetic, or at least understandable, on some level.
